Four Hohenheim students are awarded by the fiat panis foundation [02.08.12]
The Josef G. Knoll European Science Award 2012 goes to Dr. Vanessa Prigge and Dr. Nazaire Houssou for their PhD theses. Lilli Scheiterle and Athena Birkenberg are awarded the H. Ruthenberg Graduate Award 2012 for their Master theses.This year’s winners of the Josef G. Knoll European Science Award are the following PhD theses:
- “Implementation and Optimization of the Doubled Haploid Technology for Tropical Maize (Zea mays L.) Breeding Programs” by Dr. Vanessa Prigge, supervised by Prof. Dr. A. E. Melchinger, Universität Hohenheim
- “Determinants and Impacts of Smallholder Collective Action in Kenya” by Dr. Elisabeth Fischer, supervised by Prof. Dr. Matin Qaim, Universität Göttingen
- “Operational Poverty Targeting by Proxy Means Tests Models and Policy Simulations for Malawi” by Dr. Nazaire Houssou, supervised by Prof. Dr. Manfred Zeller, Universität Hohenheim

- “Contribution of home gardens to household income generation in Burkina Faso (a case study of Bieha District)” by Reginald Tang Guuroh, supervised by Prof. Dr. Holm Uibrig, Technische Universität Dresden
