Agri-Alumni-Net
The "Agri-Alumni-Net" project aims to expand the development-relevant competencies of African alumni from German institutions in tropical agricultural sciences and to strengthen the supporting structures necessary for a sustainable network. Currently, our Agri-Alumni Network links more than 750 alumni. In Phase 1 (2022-2023), the network collaborated with the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and continues its mission in Phase 2 (2024-2025) with Hawassa University, Ethiopia.
The "Agri-Aumni-Net" Project Structure
The project results are achieved through the following measures and activities:
Activity 1: Implementation of the training workshops: 4 thematic workshops (2x in Kenya/Ethiopia, 2x in Germany) on cross-cutting issues in the field of tropical agricultural sciences.
Activity 2: Hosting a series of webinars.
Activity 3: Organizing a strategy workshop and multiplier training focused on international and national communication and alumni relations.
Activity 4: Developing an alumni database, performing data analysis, and conducting social media research.
Activity 5: Establishing an agricultural alumni communication network that connects participating universities and institutions, both nationally and internationally.
Phase one of the Alumni-Network Project was co-organized by the University of Hohenheim and the University of Kassel in Germany, alongside the long-standing partner, the University of Nairobi in Kenya, which served as an alumni hub for regional and supraregional partners from neighboring countries.
This initiative directly benefited over 80 alumni through workshops held in both Kenya and Germany. The network successfully expanded its reach, engaging even more alumni through open-access webinars, optimized networking platforms, and enhanced social media activity. These efforts have strengthened connections within the alumni community, fostering a dynamic and supportive network across regions.
