All essential fields of tropical agricultural sciences, i.e. agroecology, crop and animal sciences, agricultural engineering as well as agricultural economics and social sciences, are united in one place.

More than 100 scientists provide profound empirical and theoretical knowledge of the whole spectra of tropical agricultural systems. Such a large coherent expertise is not often found around the world. 

The institute offers apart from competent, agro-related Education and Research access to many international networks and internal or associated fellowship/travel support options for Master and PhD students.
